It's a serving bowl that stacks because of its lid. Other serving bowls with lids don't let you do that.

The Lid is a platter that you can use to serve appetizers or serve the food in the bowl while keeping the food in the bowl warm.

It holds enough food for 3 people. But if you have 6 people over, then you can simply stack more Trio bowls on top using the Trio plate. This also saves space on the dining table.
